What are the benefits of pharmacogenomics?
Pharmacogenomics allows us to identify patients who are more likely to respond well to a medicine or those with an unacceptably high risk of developing side effects. Using this information, it makes it easier to show that a medicine works when it is tested in clinical studies before being registered for use by doctors. It will also allow doctors to decide which medicine is most suitable for their patient with more accuracy than can be done at the moment.
